I have nothing better to do today, so I decided to visit my long neglected blog. I am really quite amused by the things I wrote in the past, most of which are written during my JC and Uni days. Reading the posts really brings me down the memory lane during the period of time when I was a student!
The struggles of a student always involve being distracted by the fun things around that result in having not enough time to study, or finding the motivation to study for important tests that are coming. I think I faced that a lot during my student days. A very major distractor was TV because I was such a huge TV addict!
I sounded so much like a bimbo and a lousy student during my JC period because I was always rambling about not doing tutorials or the possibility of failing tests (or actually failing them) because I did not study hard enough haha. JC1 was really a honeymoon period for me because I did not think I studied much, and I recalled being very actively participating in non-academic affairs, such as supporting friends who are performing in their JC concerts or their carnivals, or to go to support AJ in inter JC tournaments. Then came the A level period. I think the A level period was really tough time for me because I knew my results were not good and there was this constant worry of 'what if I did not pass the A levels'. I was glad that I pulled through it, and that I have the blog to vent out some of the feelings as I was going through as a stressed up student then haha. There were also a lot of fond memories in JC with my very awesome JC classmates. If I had not read back on my posts, I would not have recalled some of the things I did in JC, therefore it was a good thing that I was quite active in blogging then!
Then in Uni time I am really such a Kpop freak haha. My posts then were dominated by Super Junior, SHINee and Big Bang, and my conversations with friends always revolved around them. The birthday gifts that I received that period of time were all related to Kpop haha. The extent of my kpop craziness was quite epic. There were actually a lot of spare time in Uni because the timetable was very flexible, thus I spent all of those time fangirling and watching youtube of their shows. Recalling back, I think I could have better used those time on something more fruitful haha. Oh wells, but those still form part of the memories I have!
As I reminisce, there were really some fun times as a student, and how I miss those days!
WAHAHA so here I am at my blog. After like what? More than a year?! I had totally skipped blogging in year 2013, and the year flew passed like that as well. 2013 has been quite a rough and lousy year for me, more downs than ups, and I shall not rub salt at my own wound again by recalling and bringing those matters up. Just have to deal with it, learn from these incidences and move on to become a better and patient person. I also learnt that positive thinking can help tide over the difficult period. I believe that there is always a rainbow at the end of every storm. I have not seen the rainbow yet, but the dark skies are slowly clearing up, and glad that I have survived the year and am blogging now in year 2014! Let this be a fresh start!
Anyway, I wonder why I tend to be emo when I blog. Maybe it's because the large amount of space that I am given to write as freely as possible and to let those hidden feelings out. Or maybe because I am getting old haha. If you have seen my instagram account, I think I appear to be a different person compared to when I am on blog, because on instagram, I would post about the nice food that I had eaten, the beautiful places that I had travelled to, and the very awesome concerts that I had attended. It's all about the happy things on instagram, but in reality it's not like that. If you notice the freqency of my instagram posts, I usually post the pleasant things on weekends, which indirectly means that on the weekedays I do not have much likeable things to post hahahaa. Frankly speaking, work can be rather stressful as there are so much matters to deal with, so many demands and deadlines to meet, and yet so little time. Very thankful for the presence of weekends which I sometimes use to go on outings with my lovely friends, to explore places of interests or yummy brunch places, or like even a recent short weekend getaway trip to KL, so as to take a breather and to rejuvenate my soul! So to my dear friends who happen to read this, feel free to ask me out if you have any exciting event to go on the weekends! haha
I am still amazed by how long I have not blogged. I remember the times when I blogged almost everyday, and even up to 2 posts a day, especially during the school vacation and it gets so deadly boring at home, then I would turn to blogging to post random or fangirling stuff. haha. I think blogging was all the rage then, making a post and waiting for friend to leave comments, and also leaving each other messages at the chatbox (which I still have! Please refer to left). I also remember how I took efforts to change the blogskin to match the occasion, especially during christmas because I love the festive season and christmas blogskins are so nice! OMG those were the days. However very sadly, I do not have such leisure now to do those things as I would when I was a student. We even set up a JC class
blog to make announcements and to remind the tutorials we had to do (despite the reminders, sometimes still never do and would resort to copying hahah), but I think similar to
the fate of my blog, it has sort of deserted.
Blogging seems so old school now, with the presence of
rival social media like twitter and instagram. I also have to admit that
I have already turned to instagram to update about my life, rather than
to blog. I am already finding time to be insufficient and it is more time consuming to blog, but it seems to me that blogging is more liberating than writing within 140 characters or
writing a caption for a picture! I find it more satisfying to read a post on a blog. As I read back some of my previous posts, those dear memories just flood backļ¼of how I had spent my life when I was student and how I have changed. I know I used to like Zac Efron a lot when I saw High School Musical, but I didnt know I like him that much when I saw my posts on him hahaa. Also love big bang since 2008 and still loving them now woohoooooooo!!
I have unknowingly written so much! Tomorrow needs to work so going to end off here! Shall find time to blog again! Meanwhile, KEEP CALM AND KEEP GOING!!
I have lost count the number of times that I commented how time passes very quickly. TIME REALLY FLIES!! It has been 7 months ago since I last posted on my blog! I even almost forgot my blogger username and password! I had to try 3 times before logging in successfully! Talking about passwords, there are simply too many usernames and passwords on my mind now. I have to change my workplace password every freaking 90 days, which is around 3 months? But you know, time seems to pass so quickly that I felt that I have just changed the password not long ago, and I was just about to get used to my new password, then I was prompted to change to a new password again because 'the password is going to expire soon'. SERIOUSLY STOP TRAVELLING SO FAST, MR/MS/MDM TIME!!
I have a colleague who writes down all her passwords in a little notebook. I made fun of her and said 'wah, how old are you only? You cannot remember your passwords ah? Need to write down in a book and then refer to it?' I find that there is an increasing need for me to own one of those little password notebooks. I should not have laughed at her.
Anyway after I managed to log in onto my blogger page, everything seemed so unfamiliar! This is not the past blogger that I know! I found myself fumbling to see where to click to make a new post, and it took me quite awhile to realise where it was!
I missed the old blogger. The old blogger page is still fresh in my mind. I was expecting to see the old blogger page greeting me when I log in, and I got a shock when something else did. I let out a sigh. This is the world now. Everything is evolving. Revisit something months later, it won't be the same as before! I wish things would stop changing so fast!
2012 is going to be an exciting year for me, because I have come up with many plans for this year and I hope I will be able to make them (at least some of them) come true!
1. Give my family a big dinner treat once I get my first official pay! This is something that I really want to do, even though I am still unsure when I will start my job. This is to express my gratitude, especially to my mother who has supported me all this while. I think my mother hasn't really enjoyed life much, because I know my brothers always give her headache (She always has to nag at them). My mother is also a very thrifty person and she thinks that its expensive to eat outside. This is going to be an exception for her once I get my pay! I hope this will make her happy and make her temporarily forget all the troubles that she always has on her mind! And for friends who are reading this, you might be thinking whether I will treat you all too! HAHAHA let me calculate my budget first then I will let you all know!
2. Get an iphone! I have always thought that I could just get by with a simple phone with basic functions, i.e receiving and making calls, and messaging. However, Steve Jobs have definitely made me think otherwise. (It is very true when Steve Jobs said that a lot of times, people don't know what they want until you show it to them). He has transformed this plain communication device into something that can also provide fun and entertainment! I think that with an iphone in hand, all that long public transport waiting time could be occupied with playing Angry Birds on the iphone, reading stomp news, or even browsing through facebook page, so as to lessen the agony of waiting! I would also want to recommend my friends to bring an iphone with them when they are meeting me for something because I am always late for meet-ups! haha.
Even though I currently do not own an iphone, I am already on the lookouts for apps that I would want to add if I ever get an iphone one day! One of the apps that I would want to add is Instagram, which is a photo sharing application that allows users to add an effect to the photo! And the effect is very nice! There is also another photo-editing app called Big Head Maker, which makes the head of the person big and its very cute! haha. Oh no I think I need a 16GB iphone to accommodate all the iphone apps that I want to add!
3. Buy Nintendo Wii!!! All thanks to Ah Teng, who had gotten me hooked onto Wii after introducing me to it! I can't wait to get my hands on this! Though House of Dead is a rather violent game, shooting zombies and saving the world is super addictive! Playing tennis on Wii is very fun too! I don't have to go out and face the scorching sun (I will get my sources of vitamin D from elsewhere) and yet I get to move my body! (This is considered exercising too right?) haha. I think this will also be a good destress activity after work to play on wii! 4. Go to Universal Studios! Though I am not a huge fan of the movie series, I would want to try Transformers the Ride at USS! There is also the Battlestar Galactica ride! A chance to experience 360 degree turns! Haha I have seen the video and palms were already sweating when I was viewing it. Wah this ride is definitely not for the faint hearted!
5. Go travelling! Like I have always told many people, the furthest country that I have been to is our neighbouring country, Malaysia. It's time for me to travel beyond these shores and gain a better experience for the world! I could start off with South East Asian countries first, like Thailand (shopping and food!) or popular travel destinations like Taiwan or Hong Kong. Of course there is the homeland of Kimchi and my idol husbands- Korea!! I think I will definitely turn into a shopaholic if I go Korea! haha. After gaining some travel experience, then I would venture further places like Europe or US! That will be my plan for the future but as for right now, I would want to travel to nearby countries! Hmm actually there are also a lot of places in Malaysia that I have not been to, like Penang, Ipoh and Cameron Highlands, so I do not mind exploring these places as well!
6. Attending concerts! I am quite a music lover and a fan of many singers, so if my fav singer/band is coming to Singapore for a concert, I will want to attend! During the days when I was still a poor student with no income, I had to close my eyes to concert posters or tv advertisements because I knew I had no money to go. There were really quite a lot of concerts that I wanted to go but I knew I could not. Big Bang had performed twice in Singapore but I didn't go! There was also Super Show 3 and SHINee concert but I didn't go too! I also think it would be selfish of me to ask money from my mother for me to go and attend these music events. However since I will be earning my own money, I want to see these singers live in action! SUPER SHOW 4 in FEB THIS YEAR!! I am also attending Mayday concert on Feb 25! If you see Khalil Fong, Show Luo or Sodagreen (Taiwanese band) having a concert in Singapore, please do let me know!!
I think my 2012 plans are going to burn a huge hole in my pocket!!!! haha
2011 has not been exactly smooth sailing for me, but I dare to say it is certainly the most thought-provoking and eventful year out of my entire life!
Graduation from school is a major life-changing event. I was once afraid to think about life after graduation, as I have been in the education system for almost 15 years ever since the day I stepped into my Primary school. For all my life, I see myself as a student, mugging for the sake of conquering exams and proceeding to the next stage of academic path.
I have been following the academic path which is thought to be the best for me: Going to JC after O levels, and going to Uni after A levels, and it has never crossed my mind to deviate from this path. Maybe because I did not have any concrete plans for my own future, so I was just going after the route that most people go. However when I was nearing my last semester of studies, I felt kind of lost, because it hit me that there will no longer be 'a correct path' for me to follow after my graduation from school! I realise that there are plenty of options out there and decisions for me to make as to how I am going to lead my life from here onwards. A lot of questions crossed my mind. What kind of job should I do? Which company should I work for? At what age should I get married? When will I get a house and family of my own? (Housing prices right now are crazy!). Thinking and worrying about the future really drive me insane and all these questions are weighing me down.
(TAKE VERY DEEP BREATHS IN AND SLOWWLLYYY BREATHE OUT)
Please do not get too depressed reading my previous paragraph. One advice that I have gotten is 'Life is a learning journey. When we make mistakes, we learn from them. The challenges that we face in life are not supposed to paralyse us, but they help to discover ourselves and to become better than what we are now!' So to many of my soon-to be-graduating friends, there are endless possibilities and opportunities waiting for us! Try to be optimistic and stay as worry-free as you can! Everything will turn out to be fine!
Anyway, one awesome thing about 2011 is that I have started earning my own income! A TOTALLY LIBERATING FEELING! I CAN BUY THE THINGS THAT I WANT WITH MY OWN MONEY!! In the past, there were SO MANY things that I yearn for but could not buy because I was still taking regular pocket money from my mother. I had to use whatever she had given me and I always could not save enough to buy what I had wanted. I HAVE NEVER FELT SO FINANCIALLY EMPOWERED IN MY WHOLE LIFE!!! Anyway to do a brief report of what I had spent on with my income in 2011, I had:
1. Attended MAMA concert and caught Suju and 2NE1 live performance!!
2. Bought a decent digital camera (Canon 115HS) to stalk my idols when they are in town! Digital camera is a fangirl essential item!! How can I not have this?? No longer have to rely on my low quality camera phone!
3. Buying 8 days every week to satisfy my inner paparazzi! haha. I love reading 8 days! They deserved to win 'Entertaining magazine of the year award'!
So 2012!! PLEASE DO NOT LET THE WORLD END IN YOUR YEAR!! There are so many things that I want to buy, so many concerts that I want to attend! THERE BETTER BE 2013 I TELL YOU!!! I AM WATCHING YOU HOR!!!
Anyway I guess this is all what I had wanted to say for year 2011! It's funny that my first post of 2012 is about 2011. Please look forward to my first real 2012 post about 2012! haha
Halloween is an excuse to dress up and scare people, and have lotsa fun doing it! Just watch how Ellen Degeneres did it! However, I definitely would not have the guts to do this to people around me because I am scared of retribution! hahaha.
I think the prank played on Ellen when she was walking on the road was really good! haha. I am surprised that Ellen saw through the prank almost immediately and let out a good laugh after that hahaha.
Another video of Ellen's collection of pranks to celebrities! Her scare tactics are similar to those played by primary school kids but still very effective haha. Their reactions are priceless!
Haha Ellen Degeneres is so hilarious! I have been a fan of her since my secondary school days! I love watching her show, especially when it is near the festive period like Halloween or Christmas, because there would be additional segments to the show suited to the festive! She would also offer quirky ideas on how to celebrate the festive occasion. Some of her advice make me burst out laughing! She would also add on to the festive cheer and suprise everyone by giving out freebies to the live audiences on the show! Those are not cheapskate giveaways but the latest electronic products that have just hit the shelves! Very cool! She should be renamed as Ellen De-Generous!
Kids' Halloween Costumes! LOL
I still remember Channel 5 used to air The Ellen Degeneres Show at 5 pm on the weekdays! But they axed the show all of a sudden and replaced it with the Martha Stewart Show. (YAWNS hahaha). Anyway, I miss watching The Ellen Degeneres show on Channel 5!! Dear Channel 5, if you hear my pleas, please bring back the new season to channel 5!! Right now I have to settle with watching snippets of the show from youtube, which is not satisfying at all!
As Halloween draws a step nearer, I could feel that my excitement for the occasion buliding up! This is weird as I don't have plans for this occasion. However, I am feeling a bit adventurous this year and feel like taking part in those kind of scary maze or thrills designed for Halloween. I would definitely behave in the manner below if I do go on any kind of Halloween maze! haha
